Our design-build process
The five steps
Step 1: Free in-home measure
- What happens
- We come to your home, measure the space and look at what is there now: plumbing, wiring, walls and floors.
- Who you work with
- A member of our team, by appointment.
- What you decide
- What you want to change, what bothers you about the room today, and a rough budget.
Step 2: Design and selections at our showroom
- What happens
- You sit down with a designer at our showroom on W Cabarrus St. We settle the layout and you pick cabinets, counters, tile and fixtures in person.
- Who you work with
- Our in-house designer.
- What you decide
- Layout, cabinet style and finish (including our own Delinea line), countertops, tile, fixtures and lighting.
Step 3: Your quote
- What happens
- You get a written quote for the full scope. Kitchen remodels start at $20K and bathrooms at $15K; your final price depends on scope.
- Who you work with
- Your designer walks you through it.
- What you decide
- Whether to move ahead, and whether to adjust scope or selections to fit your budget. Financing is available through Regions Bank.
Step 4: Build
- What happens
- Our crew does the work. When your project needs them, we handle the permits, the inspections and any engineer appointments. The crew cleans up at the end of every workday.
- Who you work with
- One project manager runs your job from start to finish.
- What you decide
- Questions along the way go to your project manager.
Step 5: Final walkthrough
- What happens
- We walk the finished space with you and take care of anything that needs attention.

- Your project manager.
- What you decide
- Whether everything is exactly the way you want it.
Process questions
How does the free estimate work?
Tell us about your project with the online form or call (919) 443-5174. We start with a free in-home measure, then you sit down with a designer at our showroom to pick your selections, and we give you a written quote. During business hours (Monday to Friday, 8 to 5) we call back within an hour. After hours, we call first thing the next morning.
Do you handle permits?
Yes. When your project needs them, we handle the permits, the inspections and any engineer appointments.
Do you do the design, or do I need my own designer?
We do it in-house. GID is a design-build company, so the same team designs your project and builds it. You pick cabinets, counters and tile at our Raleigh showroom.
Do you offer financing?
Yes. Home improvement financing is available through Regions Bank. You can see if you prequalify before you commit.
